Study Queensland will discuss the importance and key successes of a state-wide talent and employability program to connect students, education providers and employers.
Understanding the need to nurture a talent pipeline alongside the challenges faced by Queensland’s international students in securing meaningful work opportunities, Study Queensland has utilised experiential learning platforms to develop a state-wide employability program. Launch U connects students, employers, and education providers through different talent and employability experiences designed to build in-demand professional skills. Through these experiences, students develop skills for the future world economy using Study Queensland’s micro-credentialing platform to evidence these skills and earn a government backed micro-credential.
Since launch in June 2020, the Launch U initiative has supported approximately 2,000 students and connected with over 200+ Queensland businesses and over 17 education and training providers. By facilitating these connections and offering a variety of talent and employability opportunities Queensland students have successfully built relevant, real-world professional skills, effectively articulated their capabilities to employers to enter the local workforce.
